The First 5 Decisions to make when Wedding Planning
WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT FROM YOUR WEDDING?
Congratulations!! You’re engaged!!
Now the real fun starts - The wedding planning! If the mere thought of it fills you with fear or you want to know exactly how to get started then you’re in the right place; these 5 questions are a perfect way of finding your direction. Having a clear direction from the start along with an idea of your budget (help with that here) will make the wedding planning process much less stressful.
Make sure you discuss these things as a couple!
HOME OR AWAY
Like most of these options the answer to this may directly affect your answer to another and that is what this is all about - Finding your way to your end goal and helping you decide on the direction your wedding planning is going in.
There are so many pros and cons to a destination wedding, but as a couple do you envisage your wedding on a beach in Marbella where you met, a vineyard in the South of France or at the venue you’ve had your heart set on since you were 16?
There is no right or wrong answer this is all about you!
LITTLE OR LARGE
If Covid19 has taught us anything about weddings it’s that a micro wedding is mighty fine! This is all about the kind of celebration you imagine - A giant, wild party with all of your friends near and far or an intimate, emotional break away with the people you cannot live without?
Again, there are definite pros and cons for each but this is about prompting a discussion on what sort of numbers you both had in mind and as a result knowing what destination/venue/styling is then better suited for you and your wedding.
SPRING/SUMMER OR AUTUMN/WINTER
The colours of an Autumn wedding are my absolute favourite however, there’s a reason why Summer is the most popular time in the UK to wed - But remember you cannot be guaranteed any kind of weather, any time of year. There are some tips here on how to make your Autumn/Winter wedding incredible if that’s what you’re thinking.
Once again this will then lead to some further obvious choices that will need to be made, such as ‘Inside or Out’? Something else to consider when looking at venues.
MID-WEEK OR WEEKEND
Maybe you are thinking of having a weekend-long celebration or maybe you’ll be able to save some money as it really doesn’t have too much of an affect on you? Again, the answer is completely relevant to only you, reading this may help you to weigh up the pros and cons.
CASUAL OR FINE DINING
As a wedding planner I cannot stress the importance of finding out the answer to this question early on - Your entire reception design concept will center around whether you are having a festival themed, BBQ with relaxed seating or whether you want to wow your guests with details and florals as you dine on the best meal you’ve ever eaten!
Most couples will land somewhere in between the two of these with their final decision, but it’s important to remember that food plays a major role in your wedding day and the overall vibe and guest experience.
