The West Country really does have it all when it comes to incredible wedding venues. From industrial dockyards to grand manor houses there is something to suit every style, throughout Devon, Cornwall, Dorset & Somerset. I’ve selected some of my very favourite South West venues to showcase below.
1 . Pynes house, EXETER, DEVON
A statement country house venue situated at the end of a stunning, tree-lined drive amongst the Devonshire hills. It speaks for itself with elegant, stylish interior throughout where you will feel completely at home for your weekend wedding, a place to relax, celebrate and create incredible memories. With several of the state rooms licenced for civil ceremonies you will have a wonderful choice when it comes to choosing where to say your vows.
2 . the Bishop’s Palace, Wells, Somerset
Imagine celebrating your special day in a breath-taking 800 year old Medieval Palace, enter via the drawbridge and enjoy your wedding breakfast in the banqueting hall, complete with vaulted ceiling and architecture to impress your guests. With 14 acres of beautiful gardens you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to the perfect backdrop to those golden hour photos.
3 . Ocean studios, plymouth, devon
Originally part of a victualling yard, Ocean Studios is a unique and stylish wedding space ideal for the modern and unconventional couple. It boasts a relaxed industrial vibe and many of its original features have been maintained including the cast iron beams, exposed brick work and wooden floorboards to provide a choice of backdrops for your big day. This space can be totally transformed into something incredible and you will not find anything similar elsewhere in the South West.
4 . Boconnoc House & Estate, Cornwall
This stunning estate is sat amongst picture-perfect countryside, with surprises at every turn. The house itself blends contemporary design with charming historic elements and provides a welcoming home for a weekend wedding. Boconnoc boasts multiple spectacular locations licenced for civil ceremonies and even it’s very own church. The 800 year-old Church houses large stained glass windows, a striking vaulted ceiling and space for even the largest of wedding parties, a stunning backdrop and no doubt one of the most beautiful churches in Cornwall.
5 . AnrÁn, Newton Abbot, Devon
A truly unique venue for people who are really looking to impress their guests. With a selection of incredible areas to use throughout your special day you can ensure your wedding is completely personal to you. Perhaps you would like a cream tea reception in the Manor, cocktails in The Glass House or Dinner under The Old Oak Tree? I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.
6 . Cripps Barn, Cirencester, gloucestershire
If rustic is your style, and barns are your thing then 18th century Cotswold stone Cripps Barn is everything you have been looking for. Nestled deep in the idyllic countryside, with its flagstone floors, rustic beams and large open fireplace, this beautiful building has been transformed to provide a wedding barn fit for any season. Adorned with romantic candles and hanging florals it’s definitely an awesome spot to tie the knot.
7 . Rockbeare Manor, Exeter, devon
A pair of grand pillars frame the entrance to the magnificent Rockbeare Manor, an exclusive use country manor wedding venue set in beautiful parkland near Exeter. Having been restored respectfully to pair original historic features with stunning, contemporary elegance the outcome is a beautiful backdrop, perfect for your special day. You even have an option of using the pretty outdoor terrace for your ceremony.
8 . LAUNCELLS BARTON, CORNWALL
From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you’ll be welcomed like one of the family. Launcells Barton is a family-owned exclusive use wedding venue near Bude in North Cornwall. The converted 19th century stone built Mill Barn features beautiful exposed beams, a beautiful spot for your ceremony, paired with boutique accommodation in the historic country manor house, it really is a perfect setting for your big day.
9 . Haldon Belvedere, devon
Be a real Princess on your wedding day at this unique venue, often referred to as Lawrence Castle. Built at the height of the Romantic Period of the Georgian age it sits beautifully on the hills of Haldon Forest, above Exeter with breath-taking panoramic views over the Devon countryside. Some of it’s original features include large Gothic windows, ornate plasterwork and marble fireplaces and for photo opportunities you can even climb the spiral staircase to the roof battlements.
10. Nancarrow, Nr. Truro, Cornwall
A Nancarrow wedding is a special experience at any time of the year, against a backdrop of open grassy spaces, fruit orchards and wild flowers. If there is one thing you can guarantee it’s that your wedding party will be treated to a feast fit for a King, using their own organic meat alongside the best produce from local suppliers they provide some of the best wedding food in Cornwall. Throughout the year, the wood-fired kitchen and outdoor fireplace only adds to the atmosphere.
