The Benefits of Styled Shoots
REASONS YOU SHOULD GET AMONGST IT
Whether you are considering planning your very first styled shoot or you’re a pro at collaborating with other suppliers, there are always reasons why organising or being involved in a styled shoot is beneficial for you.
After relocating from overseas to UK and again county to county I absolutely would not have access to the team of local and national suppliers I now have, if I did not get involved in planning and organising styled shoots. I wholeheartedly believe it to be an immensely important tool when it comes to growing your following, your reputation and a perfect way for you to attract the kind of work you dream of doing day in, day out.
Below I’ve outlined just some of the benefits of being involved in styled shoots within our incredibly creative industry.
1 . Beautiful content and portfolio images
This isn’t just for new wedding businesses; when you supply a service or a product for a real wedding, the couple have creative control (of course) whereas when taking part in a styled shoot you can showcase the work you want to. This can be done in a way that you know will appeal to the kind of client you wish to book on the regular! The images are great to use on your website and social channels and you can ask for or take the kind of shots you feel reflect you perfectly as a brand.
2 . PRACTISE MAKES PERFECT
Styled shoots are a great space to challenge your skills and try something new before you do it at a real wedding or maybe showcase a new product that you have been designing or wondering if it will work. I am sure you have seen crazy, extravagant styled shoots on blogs - This is because the amazing suppliers within our industry love to be creative, try new trends and give something a go that they wouldn’t necessarily get to do at a real wedding when catering to a couple’s brief!
3 . team work makes the dream work
Getting to know your fellow wedding professionals is rewarding in many ways, not only is it fun being social with people that have the same passion as you but it is also beneficial for business - Even if that professional is within the same field as you! Make sure you take the time to talk to other suppliers on the day, it could result in a successful working relationship with referrals both ways and future opportunities.
4 . get your name out there
As I am sure you have noticed, wedding blogs are a lover of a good styled shoot. They are great at showcasing the potential in what can be achieved on a wedding day as well as new ideas and upcoming trends. If you would like to be published on a particular blog or magazine I suggest really getting to know the publication and what they like and don’t like as well as keeping them in mind throughout the planning process. Another great tool and place to show off your styled shoot images is Pinterest; further increasing your brand awareness.
5 . BOOK REAL LIFE CLIENTS
One of the biggest benefits of styled shoots is the likelihood of attracting potential couples, this can be achieved in a number of ways. If your work is published, there’s a chance somebody will want to know more about you and head over to your website to check you out - I can track some of my current clients directly back to a styled shoot that they saw! If getting published isn’t your goal the images can be used to improve your brand identity and create a cohesive ‘look’ across your website and socials in order for clients to more easily identify you and your signature style.
If you are a photographer or filmmaker and you really don’t feel up to organising an all singing, all dancing styled shoot then you always have the option of investing in a workshop. There is a workshop to suit every style, I may be biased but Workshops By LARK is a great choice and if you are looking for jaw dropping content to attract attention this is the one!
